So, we are now just a short week and half until the 86th racing of the Virginia Gold Cup on May 7 at Great Meadow in the Plains, Virginia. The races bring out the cream of the crop for an afternoon in the sun filled with mint juleps, seersucker, fun hats, and hot dresses.

Needless to say, as a new resident to the area I am beyond excited to get invovled with this spring tradition.

Attending the races is a long-held ritual for many friends in the area. I have often gotten small bits of the action through humorous text messages, the never-ending supply of Facebook photos, and enticing post-event stories.

Naturally I had to get in on the fashion action myself and promptly headed to Lilly Pulitzer after purchasing my ticket for a new spring dress in honor of the occasion.

Not too shabby right?
